April 26, 2018: Rethinking Reconciliation and Transitional Justice at LSE

Where: THAI THEATRE, NEW ACADEMIC BUILDING, LSE

Thursday 26 April 2018 6:30pm to 8:00pm

Dr Friedman will be discussing her work at LSE on April 26. The panel discussion launches a special issue of the journal Ethnic and Racial Studies coedited by James Hughes and Denisa Kostovicova of LSE’s Department of Government.

The panel puts the concepts of transitional justice and reconciliation in post-conflict states and societies under critical scrutiny, contrasting the normative discourses underpinning the concepts with the lived realities. A number of important illustrative cases, such as Israel/Palestine, Balkans, Northern Ireland, and Peru, will be discussed.
